Nurturing the faith development and academic excellence of our Catholic learning community through the love of God, neighbour, and self.

Welcome to St. Eugene!

This collection captures the lessons, growth, and experiences from my final practicum as a teacher candidate. Throughout this placement, I had the opportunity to co-plan, co-teach, and lead a range of diverse learning engagements in a vibrant Grade 7 classroom.

My portfolio reflects my dedication to fostering inclusive, inquiry-driven, and student-centered environments where every learner can thrive.
It is a celebration of the growth that comes from collaboration, reflection, and a deep belief in the power of education to inspire meaningful change.

Thank you for taking the time to explore my journey.

Together with Christ, we will succeed.

During my final placement at St. Eugene Catholic School, I taught a dynamic Grade 7 class across a variety of subjects, including physical education, mathematics, science, history, geography, religion (including Fully Alive), co-teaching novel studies and poetry, and supporting students in informative essay writing. In addition, I co-planned and co-taught art lessons that highlighted Black and marginalized artists, fostering cultural appreciation and student voice.

My instructional focus was rooted in project-based inquiry, small group collaboration, and differentiated learning experiences. I emphasized student-led discussions, peer teaching, debates, and self-reflection to promote deeper critical thinking. Lessons were often gamified to boost motivation, and second-chance opportunities were offered to support student growth. Across all subjects, I intentionally designed activities that combined classical and contemporary influences, Indigenous and Western scientific perspectives, and opportunities for meaningful self-expression.

Compared to my earlier placement at St. Angela, I demonstrated significant growth in bridging educational theory and classroom practice. I consistently planned comprehensive, differentiated lessons that incorporated classroom management strategies, IEP accommodations, and the integration of technology. I collaborated closely with my mentor teacher, resource staff, and families, strengthening my ability to plan responsively and inclusively. This placement solidified my confidence in managing a full classroom environment while sustaining rigorous, culturally responsive, and student-centered learning.

As I complete this final practicum, I am filled with gratitude for the challenges, growth, and connections that have shaped my journey as an educator. This experience reaffirmed my commitment to creating inclusive, engaging, and equitable learning environments where all students feel seen, valued, and empowered. I have deepened my understanding of curriculum design, differentiated instruction, assessment for learning, and the transformative power of collaboration with students, colleagues, and families.

Looking ahead, I am excited to carry forward these lessons as I embark on my career in education. Teaching is not simply a profession — it is a calling rooted in hope, perseverance, and a belief in the power of education to change lives.
Thank you for taking the time to explore my journey.
