Yoga Integration in the Classroom

As a certified yoga teacher, I bring the principles and practices of yoga into my teaching philosophy across subject areas—not just in physical education. I use yoga-based strategies to support student well-being, classroom focus, and emotional regulation. From breathwork to mindfulness moments, I incorporate short flows, grounding techniques, and reflective prompts throughout the day to promote balance and self-awareness.

In gym classes, I lead full yoga sessions rooted in Catholic and Indigenous teachings, often connecting to the Seven Grandfather Teachings or monthly virtues. These flows help students build strength, confidence, and compassion, while fostering a deeper connection to themselves and the world around them. Yoga has become a powerful tool in my classroom for fostering inclusivity, calm, and community.
